Film is life, and life is film for Joseph Patrick Conroy, founder of amerikana media. From an early age, he was captivated by motion pictures. The first film he ever saw in the theaters, Return of the Jedi, threw his cinematic imagination into overdrive. When his father bought a VHS camcorder in the mid-nineteen eighties, JPC quickly took over duties of filming family events and vacations. In high school, JPC began leaning more towards music and continued exploring his artistic side, but never lost his love for film. In college, he became exposed to a wider variety of films than he had growing up, and after watching Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs, he finally decided that filmmaking was the road the rest of his life would lead down. While studying English Literature as his "back up plan," JPC began writing screenplays and watching/studying as many movies as the hours in the day would allow. His fascination with film quickly became an obsession as he amassed a remarkable amount of knowledge on world cinema and the craft of filmmaking. Upon completing his degree, and out of basic financial necessity, JPC began working as a writer in the publishing field. On nights and weekends he would flex his filmmaking muscles, creating short films and picking up an editing gig here and there. In the summer of 2012, JPC began work on a comedic webseries that he based on what he had at his immediate disposal — his 9-month-old Japanese-American daughter. The resulting project became CaucAsian, a satire about a white couple in New York City who, by a freak of nature, deliver an Asian-looking baby. JPC wrote and directed the series, which was well-received by audiences and chosen as one of the top three webseries of 2013.

At that point, things changed. Pursuing his passion part-time just wasn't cutting it anymore. As fate would have it, JPC was laid off from his third publishing job in eight years, and made the exciting, yet frightening decision to leave publishing behind and start from zero as a full-time filmmaker. He began creating music videos for close friends, free of charge, in order to experiment and find his filmmaking voice. In early 2014, JPC formed amerikana media, taking his daughter's first and middle name to create an anagram that reflected his mission statement for the company: accessible video content fused with an artistic sensibility. Through positive word of mouth regarding his highly-stylized music video concepts, JPC began getting approached by various independent artists in and around New York City to write, direct, and shoot their music videos. And along with the music videos came additional work as a freelance editor and cinematographer for projects ranging from corporate to documentary to promotional content and everything in between. After playing it safe for years, risk had become reward for Joseph Patrick Conroy.

Today, through that same positive word of mouth, amerikana media has become a trusted source for discerning clients, who require not just video content, but highly-creative, cinematic video content. Our passion and dedication to the medium of motion pictures is unmatched and reflects in each project we take on. If you're looking to partner with a skilled video production company that can take your branded video content to the next level of online visibility, consider amerikana media for your next project.
